Benefits Of A Travel Journal

Travel is an incredibly fulfilling pursuit that exposes us to new cultures, different perspectives, and unique experiences. A travel journal is an especially useful tool to record our adventures and share our memories with others. Below are a few of the major benefits of carrying a travel journal with you during your travels.

Your Journal To Plan

Your trip journal can begin before your trip has even started. Use your journal to start planning the things you want to do. It can be anything from a cool restaurant you want to eat at, a hike you want to go on, or different sights you want to see. Write About Your Expectations Sometimes your destination is wildly different than what you expected. It's interesting to compare your predictions with actual experiences by writing down your expectations prior to arrival. Gather Your Thoughts Each Day It's always easier to remember things when they are fresh in our brain, so try and write as much as you can while traveling; every day if you can. Before going to bed, simply jot down a few of the day's most important or exciting events.

Supplement Your Writing Combining mementos such as pamphlets, pictures, currency, menus, drawings, maps, or ticket stubs with first-hand written accounts of what they represent will make for an even more comprehensive narrative of your travels.

Reflect On Your Travels Recounting your personal experiences is a great way to learn about yourself and the world around you. Take time to step back from all the things you did during your trip, and the impact that it made in your life.
